A Brighter Way To Get Back In The Swing Of Things

Dec 12, 11 A Brighter Way To Get Back In The Swing Of Things

Phew!  It turns out reports of my demise, at least according to my doctors, have been exaggerated.

It’s been a long month or so away from the Brighter Breakfast hotseat.  That being said, it’s the show that’s the important thing, not the presenter, and Ros and Danny have certainly been at their admirable best in providing Basildon and East Thurrock with the very latest in local news and travel, entertainment and music, the staple diet of any breakfast show.  Just goes to show I’m not actually needed!

Needed is one thing, though, and wanted is another.  It’s been very humbling during my recent illness to receive so many goodwill messages from so many people who have taken the trouble to write to someone who’s never met them.

From my viewpoint, I couldn’t wait to come back, but had to bide my time whilst my condition began to improve.  It was so frustrating.  There’s only so many dvd’s to watch or shows to listen to on the radio before you start kicking the cat.  Just as well I don’t have a cat!

That, however, is gladly in the past.  I’m so pleased to be able to let the people of East Thurrock and Basildon know exactly what’s happening on our roads and trains, what the news is in our area, letting everyone know how our sports teams are getting on, even if at times there’s a slight tone of gentle cynicism at what makes the headlines!

Being able to play hits from every decade from the 50′s right up to the prsent day, every hour, is made so rewarding when all the requests come in, from different people of all ages.  I’m also constantly impressed at how many people have their wits about them, judging by the consistently high number of correct Brain Boggler answers.

It’s nice to be back in the swing of things.  It’s much nicer, though, to know that I am in some small way helping people in and around Basildon and East Thurrock starting their day the brighter way.

Oh yes!
