How important is history?

It is said that those who cannot learn the lessons of history are condemed to repeat the same mistakes. I will be focusing on a particular piece of WW1 history during the programme today. It may surprise you to learn that less than 10 miles from Basildon there is a unique site which has strong associations with WW1 in the days when Zeppelin airships and Gotha bombers invaded our shores, and the brave men of the Royal Flying Corps who flew very basic aircraft against to the common foe.
