Nurses appeal gets a Fireman’s Lift

Basildon firefighters gave Macmillan nurses a fundraising lift when they turned up at a charity quiz night on 21 August at Club Kingswood.

The fundraiser sought to raise funds and awareness for the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Macmillan Team. The nurses’ team is an
independent fundraising arm of Macmillan Support, so the money raised goes directly to the care of patients living in Basildon and Thurrock.

Karen Munro, Macmillan Team Leader, said: “The night was a major success and raised £500 in total.”

Club Kingswood generously donated the venue, snacks and the winning team’s prize,  while Club members and the guys from White Watch at Basildon Fire Station added their support to the nurses to give a real feel of community involvement.
