Neil Gits His Vinyl Out !

30th May 2015
Posted by Neil Matthew

Just a quick reminder that this evening at 5pm there’s a second chance to hear last Bank Holiday Monday’s special “Old Git’s Vinyl Countdown” show with nothing but the black round plastic stuff played for two hours of pure soul, jazz-funk & disco nostalgia ! The tracks I played are listed below to whet your appetite and I can promise another three or four old vinyl records will get an airing,  along side the latest batch of superb “nu soul” tunes, when normal service is resumed on Monday night…

And PS – I hate it when “young people” refer to records as “vinyls” ! We never EVER called them that back in the day ! Tune in today to hear a few of my cherished gems go snap, crackle & pop on your wireless and reminisce about the way radio used to sound…

The Tunes

James Brown – She’s The One
Jean Carn – Happy To Be With You
Bill Harris – Am I Hot Am I Cold
Mercy Mercy – What Are We Gonna Do About It
Controllers – Undercover Lover
Viktor Lazlo – Sweet Soft ‘n’ Lazy
Stevie Wonder – Rocket Love
Maze – Magic
TS Monk – Candidate For Love
Eugene Wilde – Che Che Kule
Dianne Reeves – Sky Islands
James Taylor Quartet – Love The Life (David Morales 1990 Remix)
Fred Wesley – House Party
Voices Of East Harlem – Wanted Dead Or Alive
L J Reynolds – Don’t Let Nobody Hold You Down
Detroit Spinners – Mighty Love
Betty Wright – Keep Love New
Lou Rawls – I Go Crazy
Natalie Cole – I Wanna Be That Woman
Aretha Franklin – Love Me Right (featuring Luther Vandross)
Champaign – Off & On Love
Cashmere – Do It Anyway You Wanna
Billy Frazier – Billy Who ?

I will fully update the “Recommended Old Gits Nights Out” list by next weekend – it needs a bit of work doing on it !!

The Old Gits Soul Show can be heard in or near Basildon on Gateway 97.8FM or online worldwide at www.gateway978.com
