Neil Gits Some Tricky Requests

It’s good to know that my regular listeners have a deep interest in their soul music and don’t just want non-stop Top 40 hits from the 70s & 80s week in, week out. It keeps the show interestting and we can all learn about new (old!) music together and find out unknown facts about our favourite artists and what they’ve done.

Sometimes, the requests I get test even my massive record & CD collection and over the last week or two, I’ve had to search high and low to keep you happy ! Paul in Billericay asked for two songs recently, one I had, but not the version he wanted, whilst the other one, if I have got it, will be in a box underneath four other (heavy!) boxes right at the back of the collection. That one’s on my “to do” list  still … 😉

But Sam in Wickford came up trumps, she asked for a song I don’t remember at all, by a singer I can just about name one song by back in the 80s and I was convinced I didn’t own a copy. I checked my albums – no, I didn’t buy any by him – then the 7″ singles, blank again. But…looking through the huge wall of twelves, there it was, in pristine condition, probably only played once and forgotten all about for nearly thirty years ! So it will be played on Monday’s LIVE show for you Sam … 🙂
