A packed edition of the British Blues Awards 2013 nominated Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8 this Wednesday with all the variety you have come to expect!
There are tracks from Blues Music Award winners the late Michael Burks, Tab Benoit, the late Magic Slim & the Teardrops, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, the Mannish Boys, Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, Janiva Magness, Ruthie Foster, Eric Bibb, Curtis Salgado, Irma Thomas and Victor Wainwright. Plus there is a track from Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Joe Louis Walker.
There is another track from this month’s IBBA Album of the Month, ‘Highwire’ by the Daniel Smith Blues Band and more new releases from Angel Forrest, Dave Arcari & the Helsinki Hellraisers, Hans Theessink, Big Daddy Wilson and Ron Dzubla.
In the gig guide there are tracks from Mick Pini and the SPIKEdrivers plus slices of birthday cake for Roscoe Levee and Micke Bjorkof & BlueStrip. By popular request there is a track from Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion

The weather may be changing but on this week’s Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8 on Wednesday there are two hours of great music, as always!
I will be playing tracks from the other four nominees in the British Blues Awards 2013 Female Vocalist of the Year category which is sponsored by Digital Blues – Jo Harman, Kyla Brox, Laura Fothergill and Lucy Zirins plus there is another chance to catch Digital Blues’ nominee for the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award for Original British Blues song, Tom Doughty.
There is another track from this month’s IBBA Album of the Month, ‘Highwire’ by the Daniel Smith Blues Band and a cracking new release from The Delta Saints.
We celebrate what would have been Robert Johnson’s 101st birthday with tracks from the man himself plus Paddy Milner, Chino & the Big Bet, the Mick Pini Band, Magic Sam, The Heaters, Paul Williams & Friends, The Rolling Stones, Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton and Dr Ika whilst we also remember Michael Burks who passed a year ago. There is a slice of birthday cake for Steady Rollin Bob Margolin with a track from him with the Mike Sponza Band.

DIGITAL BLUES NOMINATED IN 2013 BRITISH BLUES AWARDS
I am thrilled to learn that, for the third year running, Digital Blues has been nominated in the Independent Blues Broadcast category of the British Blues Awards. To say I am chuffed is putting it mildly and a big thank you goes out to all those who thought to nominate Digital Blues.

DIGITAL BLUES ON GATEWAY 97.8 – 1ST MAY 2013
It may be May Day but there will be no maypole dancing on this week’s Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8 on Wednesday, I don’t have time as it is a very busy show!
I will be exclusively announcing the eight nominees in the British Blues Awards 2013 Female Vocalist of the Year category which is sponsored by Digital Blues and playing tracks by four of the nominees. But I am not going to tell you who they are so you will have to tune in to find out! There is another chance to catch the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award for Original British Blues song nominee, Tom Doughty.
There is a track from this month’s IBBA Album of the Month, ‘Highwire’ by the Daniel Smith Blues Band plus a couple of tracks from the new, soon to be released Shaggy Dogs CD and an interview with the writer of all the lyrics. Plus, especially for Dee, there is a track from the new Steve Hooker CD.
An extended gig guide features tracks from Ryan McGarvey and the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band both of whom are about to hit the UK plus the Dove & Boweevil Band, Jo Harman and Midnight Train. Ahead of the Music on the Wey charity event on Saturday, there are tracks from Katie Bradley, Marcus Bonfanti, Paddy Milner, Ron Sayer Jr, the Brothers Groove and Dani Wilde.
Finally there is a track from Juno Award winner Steve Strongman and a couple of tracks from Bob Brozman who sadly left us last week
