Margaret Thatcher Dies At 87 After Stroke
Margaret Thatcher 1925 – 2013 Aged 87.
Baroness Thatcher has died following a stroke
The Prime Minister said: “Margaret Thatcher didn’t just lead our country – she saved our country.
“Margaret Thatcher took a country that was on its knees and made Britain stand tall again.”
He added: “We can’t deny that Lady Thatcher divided opinion. For many of us, she was and is an inspiration.
“For others she was a force to be defined against. But if there is one thing that cuts through all of this – one thing that runs through everything she did – it was her lion-hearted love for this country.”
Mrs Thatcher, who became Baroness Thatcher, resigned as Prime Minister in November1990 after a year in which her fortunes plummeted.

50% OF YOUNG PEOPLE SAY THEIR PARENTS ARE THEIR HEROES.
Ever asked your child who their hero is? If you haven’t, you should, because you might just like the answer… and if you think Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell or Theo Walcott are who your kids aspire to be- think again. A new survey commissioned by the family restaurant Brewers Fayre refreshingly reveals that 50% of children cite their mums and dads as their heroes and a massive 83% of children say that courage and bravery is a quality that defines a hero rather than fame, fortune or good looks….
A Hero Lies In You
In today’s celebrity obsessed society it’s hard to think that young people would look up to anyone else, but new research by Brewers Fayre reveals that young people view their parents as their heroes. The research also uncovers that when it comes to celebrities, Olympians are the new idols, with nearly 40% of children sighting Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis as their idols, while Joey Essex and Simon Cowell appearing at the bottom of the list.
Support Your Unsung Hero
To celebrate all things heroic, Brewers Fayre Today announces a bursary scheme to support the unsung heroes of our community, following the success of similar campaigns in 2009 and 2010.
The 2012 Local Heroes initiative aims to recognise those who give their time to improve the lives of their fellow local residents.
Volunteers who are tireless in their charity work, or maybe a group of people who help to run the Neighbourhood Watch and keep communities safe or even train the junior Sunday League team out of the goodness of their heart, are all eligible.
Those nominated will be in with a chance to be awarded a share of a £10,000 pot that can be invested towards continuing their community projects within the area.

Jeff Brazier
We were joined by dad of two Jeff Brazier to discuss what makes a hero and the Brewers Fayre search for a local hero.
He was talking about a recent survey that shows 50% of young people say that their parents are their real heroes. A further 83% of children say that courage and bravery is a quality that defines a hero rather than fame, fortune and good looks. The Olympics have also had an influence on children, with nearly 40% now looking up to Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis as their idols.
The research was conducted by the family restaurant Brewers Fayre and they are running a bursary scheme to support the unsung heroes of our community. The initiative aims to recognise those who give their time to improve the lives of their fellow local residents and those nominated could be in with a chance of receiving a share of £10,000 to invest back into their local area.
