Weekend Breakfast with Jack Sullivan

Jack Sullivan is in the studio on Saturday 12th May with Weekend Breakfast, kick starting your morning between 9:00am and 12:00pm on your award winning station.

I’ll be waking you up and easing you into your day, with traffic and travel bulletins, news and weather, sports and showbiz round-up’s, chat and features, local events, and great music.

In the first hour, it’s Kelly’s Diary at 9:25am, so if you are looking for local events, then I’ll have all the what’s on, in and around the area. That’s followed by your first look out on to the roads and trains, with a Travel Update at 9:30am, your Showbiz round-up at 9:35am, and taking a look at the front pages of the newspapers at around 9:50am.

The second hour will contain your Cinema Listings for Empire in Basildon at 10:15am, with 3 films that I recommend to go and see. That’s followed by another Travel Update at 10:30am, your Sports round-up at 10:35am, and the TV Listings, If you’re just planning on staying indoors. May even do an artist back-to-back.

Then, the last hour is where I have On This Day In History at 11:15am, including the Number One Songs. Followed by Your final Travel Update at 11:30am, talking to Tyler Pittaway about Coffee and Tea, and The Local Chart at 2pm, to find out Who will be this week’s number one? Then I will be leaving the show with Things You Didn’t Know This Time Last Week, and maybe throw in some weird stories.

Don’t forget, travel every half past the hour, getting you the latest on the roads and trains, and playing a local artist. Weather and News Headlines at the top of the hour.

V Festival 2012

V Festival 2012 Line-Up at Hylands Park

V Festival which will take place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford on Saturday 18th August and Sunday 19th August, have announced their line up this evening, with The Stone Roses and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds & The Killers and Snow Patrol confirmed as the headline acts for this year. Thursday 1st March will see Tickets go on sale to Essex residents, before going nationally across the UK on Friday 2nd March. Are you a Virgin Media customer? Then you can buy tickets from 10:00am on Monday 27th February. Will it be another sell out event? I reckon so!

Tickets:

Remember, all of Essex residents can get hold of special allocation tickets this Thursday, before they go on sale nationally this Friday. Also, if you live with a postcode within a three mile radius of Hylands Park, then you can get your hands on a limited number of tickets, that will be available, as defined by Royal Mail.

Essex tickets will go on sale on Thursday 1st March from 9:00am, with all the details available on www.vfestival.com. The rest of the tickets for the country will go on sale from 10:00am on Friday 2nd March. Virgin Media customers can buy tickets from 10:00am on Monday 27th February.

During the show I will be taking a recap of what’s been happening around the world this week, looking at the headlines of the newspapers, as well as this day in history, birthdays and much more.

Everyone in Essex needs to be ready for the switchover in April or you will lose TV channels. If you have 5 channels or fewer on any TV in your home, you will need to covert it to digital. The BRIT Awards 2012

Latest News:

Tuesday night saw Adele be named MasterCard British Album of the Year for her multi-platinum album 21 at this year’s BRIT Awards.

This is her second album and has sold over 17 million copies worldwide and topped charts when it was released in 2011, which contains songs such as Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, and of course Someone Like You.

Adele took the award after being part of the nomination with Coldplay’s album Mylo Xyloto, Ed Sheeran’s +, Florence & The Machine’s Ceremonials and PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake.

She also won the British Female Solo Artist Award. Someone Like You has became one of her biggest selling songs since 2011. She took the award after being up against Florence & The Machine, Jessie J, Kate Bush and Laura Marling.

The International Breakthrough award went to Melancholy pop sensation Lana Del Ray, who has boasted the biggest album so far this year, which includes songs Video Games and Born To Die. This success-streak has made her win her first ever BRIT Awards nomination. The debut album Born To Die has already topped the album charts this month. She won the award against Aloe Blacc, Bon Iver, Foster The People and Nicki Minaj.

Ed Sheeran won the British Breakthough Act award after building a name for himself on the UK’s live scene. It’s been a year already since he started doing his huge hits such as Lego House, Drunk and The A Team as well as his album +. He has done that well that he is this year’s most nominated BRITs artist and picked up four awards. He battled against Anna Calvi, Emeli Sande, Jessie J and The Vaccines to win this award. He also performed his song Lego House.

The artist also won the British Male Solo Artist award. He had a bit of competition though against James Blake, James Morrison, Noel Gallagher and Professor Green. The artist even said himself, “I really didn’t expect to get this one.”

The young star song’s are a blend between folk and hip-hop and can be heard much on his debut album +. He has scored three Top Ten hits with his singles The A Team, You Need Me, I Don’t Need You and Lego House in 2011.

Coldplay have been named BRITs 2012 British Group and have previously done so in 2001, 2003 and 2006. They also took Best British Group on 2001 and 2003 plus British Single in 2006, and performed at this year’s BRITS. The group were up against Arctic Monkeys, Chase & Status, Elbow and Kasabian, but Coldplay who have had massive success with their singles Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Paradise and their album Mylo Xyloto, won the award.

Rihanna has been named International Female Artist. She collected this award as well as performing, and has also won the International Female Solo Artist award in 2011 as well as being nominated for it in 2008 and 2010. She was up against Beyonce, Bjork, Feist and Lady Gaga for this award and said thanks to all her fans for all their support.

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction won BRITs 2012 Best British Single. The five-piece have rose to massive success ever since their single reached Number 1 back in September 2011.

And finally, Bruno Mars won BRITs 2012 International Male Artist. The singer has had massive international hits since the last 12 months, which includes Grenade and The Lazy Song.

He won the award after beating Aloe Blacc, Bon Iver, David Guetta and Ryan Adams.

Sir Peter Blake designed all of the awards at the BRITs 2012.
