On Sunday evening (16/12/12) the people of Thurrock was in for a treat, as Santa passed through the area on his sleigh!
With Christmas music playing and a sleigh kitted out with Christmas lights & presents, it was a real surprise for everyone.
Michelle, from Chadwell St. Mary said, “It was a real treat to see the children’s faces as santa passed through the area on his sleigh, this hasn’t happened since i was a kid myself so it is nice that the tradition is being brought back.”
This event was put on by The Rotary Club of Thurrock and the people of Thurrock are hoping it will once again turn into a tradition for Santa to travel the Thurrock area on his sleigh every year!

I’m sure you’ll all agree the weeks are now disappearing with Christmas, at the time of writing, only 8 days away! For me it doesn’t seem that long ago we had the shades on while enjoying the October heatwave. Over the past few years we have experienced heavy snow in the lead up to the main day but in contrast this year it has just been freeeezzzziinnng, and extremely windy.
Last week I was very grateful to Harry for taking over the hotseat while I was away in the Belgium city of Brussels looking around the EU buildings and being talked at by some MEPs. An interesting trip in all but I don’t follow it with a recommendation to visit.
Finally the school break is upon me which means that I can have a little time to relax in the Christmas build up. Anyway I’ll leave you there, be sure to check out the Local Chart page to see who is this week’s number 1!
It’s silly I know, but this year, I am a little bit more organised and will have time on Christmas Day to be on the radio because Mother Claus (the boss!) took my diary and told me that “…you have one day a year to plan for and you do it appallingly…” and she has found me this extra time.
And what’s more, your radio station Gateway 97.8 has donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK in return for my disc-jockery talents. I hope I don’t let them and you down! The Chief Elf and I have some time in the diary to do a bit of practicing, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
So, on my big show on Christmas Day I’ll be playing some of the best Christmas songs of all time, talking to some of the people who help make Christmas possible and give you opportunities to donate to the “Make-A-Wish Foundation UK” charity.
So, enjoy the show and please do make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK if you enjoy the show. It goes to help all the unfortunate boys and girls who aren’t as lucky as us. And I’ll see you on Christmas Day – not when I deliver your presents obviously – but on the air! How exciting! Ho ho ho! keep checking the Gateway schedule for the show times
