RHS Garden Hyde Hall Announces Autumn Events Programme

September 2014 – November 2014 in Essex

This autumn, RHS Garden Hyde Hall is bringing together shows, festivals, exhibitions, foodie activities, family days out, talks and more with events and activities to delight and inspire every garden lover. Here are just a few of the highlights:

September

1 – 14 Sept: Exhibition: Textiles in the Garden, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

An exciting and colourful exhibition of textile art by ‘Chelmsford ’93’, using a wide range of traditional and contemporary textile techniques. There will be a range of items for sale.

17 Sept: Course: Lawn Care Question Time, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

The lush green lawns at Hyde Hall are much admired and this is your opportunity to quiz the experts on how to get your lawn back into shape after summer. Booking essential.

20 – 21 Sept: Autumn Plant Fair Weekend, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Autumn is the best time for planting and this event provides an ideal opportunity to stock up. Organised by Plant Heritage, this relaxed table-top fair is perfect for garden lovers.

27 – 28 Sept: Chilli Pepper Weekend, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

This event will be a true feast for your senses with cooking demos and talks by Saira Hamilton, MasterChef Semi-Finalist 2013, who will be serving up fine Bengali food. There will also be plant displays, food stalls, growing advice and a tasting table.

October

18 – 19 Oct: Autumn Festival, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Celebrate everything that is autumn, with colourful displays of fruit and vegetables, local produce and apple pressing, juicing and tasting. Children can enjoy a mini farm and take part in longest-apple-peel competitions.

25 Oct: Children’s Pumpkin Carving, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Time to get creative and carve a fun design or scary face on a pumpkin! Pumpkins available for sale at the garden (while stocks last).

28 – 31 Oct: Children’s Half Term Fun – Repulsive Plants & Frightening Food, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Time for some spooky fun including making slime and cabbage water, scary flowers and veg heads! Normal garden admission applies, plus an additional cash payment of £2 per child.

November

7 Nov: Free Day Friday, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

Enjoy a free day out at any of the four RHS Gardens. Sample some of the benefits of RHS membership for yourself and get a taste of the gardens in their late-autumn splendour.

22 – 23 Nov: Essex Craft & Design Show, RHS Garden Hyde Hall

The ideal opportunity to buy a unique Christmas gift at this well-established and high-quality show. All of the exhibitors are UK-based and create their own work. The variety and wealth of this home-grown talent means that you can buy a piece of original art or craft and meet the artist who created it.
