Basildon Hospital Floods

6th April 2014
Posted by Danny Lawrence

Firefighters used pumps to clear flooding from the boiler room at Basildon hospital on Saturday morning.  A burst water main was the cause.

Essex and Suffolk Water attempted to find the source of the leak and did not leave until until 19:00. Many patients’ appointments were cancelled, some directed to go to Orsett Hospital instead.

The incident also affected the water supply for the hospital, meaning that staff had to use bottled water, bought from nearby shops. There have been no reported injuries regarding the case.
