Basildon House Fire

Fire crews were called to a house in Mellow Purgess at around 10:15 this morning.

The family was apparently inside when the blaze broke out, but escaped the house with no major injuries. A neighbour who called the fire brigade after seeing smoke rise from the top of the building.

Four crews attended the scene Including one from Basildon, two from Orsett, and another one Brentwood.  Firefighters are currently investigating exactly what happened, and what caused the fire.
