YOUNG people are invited to join free street cricket sessions in the a Basildon park.

A series of Street Chance Cricket sessions will be running in Northlands Park, Basildon over the summer and will be funded and supported by Essex County Cricket Board in partnership with Basildon Council. The fun, active sessions will run throughout the school summer holidays beginning on July 28 to August 27.

Street Chance Cricket is becoming increasingly popular across the UK and is designed to be played in an enclosed space, as it uses a soft ball.

Councillor Kevin Blake, deputy leader and cabinet member for leisure and arts, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for young people to get involved in cricket during the holidays as well as stay fit and active.

“I would urge all those with an interest to make the most of this free opportunity to play this great summer sport.”

The programme is available to anyone over the age of 12 and runs in two hour sessions.
