A supersized supermarket which has undergone its first re-fit since opening 15 years ago, has had more than 600 people apply for just 40 positions, after a makeover at Tesco Extra in Pitsea, which is one of the largest of its types in the country. Two people were hit by trains on the same c2c line today, which runs from Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street, causing cancellations and delays all day, and passengers being told to wait for buses due to the disruption. The first incident happened just after 7:45am, after a train between Benfleet and Leigh-on-Sea caused the line to close, after hitting a person.
