Good afternoon from 1pm today

May 11, 12 Good afternoon from 1pm today
This afternoon, I will be taking a look at the motoring news and the astonishing story that a 1959 unrestored Mini sold for £40.000 at Bonhams recently! The car was owned by a regular Gateway guest Richard Bremner auto journalist, who writes for Autocar magazine. Richard and two others bought the car 3 years ago for £11000, so not a bad result considering nothing was done to the car in that time and it remained totally original including the rust.

This poses the question, why pay £40.000 for an old Mini in pretty grim condition?
Has the world gone mad?

Your questions are invited on this subject. 01268 833978 phone or text, our e-mail is studio@gateway978.com

I will also be looking at local stories from around the Gateway broadcast area, interlaced with travel and weather reports and of course great music to ease you into the weekend.

Join me if you can:

Local Dance Group Karizma Krew

May 05, 12 Local Dance Group Karizma Krew

Karizma Krew’s Britain’s Got Talent semi-final

Bank Holiday Monday’s Britain’s Got Talent will feature local dance troupe Karizma Krew, who are fighting for a spot in the final of the hit ITV1 show on Saturday. The nine-strong Canvey Island street dance troupe, aged from 14 to 39, blend urban dance and theatre.

Here is a bit about Karizma Krew:

Karizma Krew are a troupe from Canvey Island of 14 to 39 year olds made up of 9 altogether, 2 male and 7 female, Brad, Lolly, Nyree, Hannah, Leanna, Tim, Eden, Jodie and Jordan. Originally formed 9 years ago, Karizma Krew has only been dancing together for 2 years now, this is due to the fact members kept changing over the years.

They focus their dances on urban and theatre to create a theatrical and story style feel to their performances, after the man behind Karizma Krew, choreographer David Welch, has been involved with urban dance himself since 1992, giving his own ideas and development to the dance troupe today.

Karizma Krew Members

Meet the Krew: Brad, Lolly, Nyree, Hannah, Leanna, Tim, Eden, Jodie and Jordan.

Karizma Krew will be up against eight other acts on the night: Jonathan & Charlotte, Paige Turley, The Showbears, Michael Fish, Kai & Natalio, Graham Blackledge, Cascade and Four Corners.

Alesha Dixson said in their first audition, “I loved the fact that you mixed so many different styles together. Girls you were fierce together, I really enjoyed it.”

But, can they mix different styles again, and be fierce together to win a place in the final?
