Glance to the past: 2014

2014 was an eventful year here at Gateway 97.8. In the year of the historial Oscar ‘selfie’ and the year of Flappy Bird, lots went on at this local community radio station.
The station was granted a one year project grant by BBC’s Children In Need – this was in late February. Everybody at Gateway was very grateful for this accolade from the BBC.
2014 was the year for charity stunts – Ali Stafford and Danny Lawrence both went on charity adventures. Ali ran a marathon and raised money for a hospice in his home town, Ipswich. Everybody here at Gateway 97.8 were very proud of Ali when he completed the 26 mile stunt.2014 ali stafford
Danny Lawrence climbed Ben Nevis on 16th June 2014 and it took him 11 hours to climb up the mighty Scottish mountain top. Once again, everybody at Gateway were very proud of Danny – what an achievement! Pictures from this climb can be accessed by clicking here 2014 ben nev.
Danny Lawrence also visited Buckingham Palace in 2014 – he visited the royal home on 22nd May 2014 – this was a brilliant time for Danny.
The Commonwealth Games took place in the summer months of 2014 and Gateway covered this sporting event during those hot days.he also Gained the BEM from the queen
