Olivers Southgate on Good Afternoon this Friday the 2nd of March

Gateway is well known for supporting local artists and offering them the opportunity to have their music played on the station, thus reaching the ears of a wider audience. Local, has to be defined but if we confine ourselves to being rather too local, we would miss out on an awful lot of talent, not to put too finer point on it, that ain’t good! It is with that thought in mind that prompted me to invite Oliver Southgate to be my guest this Friday the 2nd of March. I was recently at a gig where The Oliver Southgate Band was playing and I was struck by their musicianship as well as their steadfast commitment to playing their own material, this means no covers. This posture could limit the bands appeal and be commercially restricting. That said they remain resolute to their belief in their own music and for that they have earned my respect.

To find out more about the band and their music, where the inspiration comes from, who influenced it and how difficult it is for an unsigned band to make a living just performing their own songs, join me this Friday from 1pm through 4pm Good Afternoon. This together with a great play list as always, news views and travel information from around the area. Don’t forget, if you would like to contribute, the studio number is 01268 833978, phone or text, or if e-mail is easier, [email protected] will get your message across.

Looking forward to your company:

Steve G.
