Posted by Chris Tiernan

Gateway to jazz will be focusing on the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans on Wednesday 8th January 2014.

The programme will cover the description of what Mardi Gras is.  It will also explain the work and history of some of the Krewes, as well as the Mardi Gras Indians.

Do you know about the traditions of the “King Cakes”?  The origins and meaning of the Mardi Gras colours of purple, green and gold.  What about the women who bare their breasts to receive throws from the floats.  Just about everything there is to know about this fabulous celebration.  All of which contains plenty of great jazz tunes from the stars of the genre.

Don’t miss out – Wednesday 8th January 2014 from 7 through to 9.  The programme is introduced by David Fenn on behalf of the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside.  NOT TO BE MISSED!
