Neil Gits His “Flip-Flops” Out!

23rd August 2011
Posted by Neil Matthew

And while we’re at it, let’s fetch the anorak out of the wardrobe too ! We are in holiday frame of mind here at Old Gits HQ, but before we set off on a little road trip let’s give you all the info on what you can hear on this week’s “Cool Soul” show…

After I’d chosen all the tunes I noticed there was quite a theme running through some of them – five of the tracks were somewhat less successful releases than their predecessors, let’s call them “follow-up flops!” for want of a better term. Included are Gladys Knight & The Pips smooth soulful attempt at repeating the success of “Midnight Train To Georgia”, the Real Thing going even further down the cheesy disco route after “Can You Feel The Force” , Brass Construction sounding every bit as funky as on their previous monster hit “Movin’ On” and Andrea True Connection who so nearly had another chart success two years after “More More More”.

All these nearly-forgotten gems can be heard alongside a Tasty 12″, the Old Gits Jazzy Bit and a couple of Soul Smoothies from 5pm this saturday evening on the repeat play atwww.gateway978.com …

This Week’s Tunes:

KC & The Sunshine Band  –  That’s The Way I Like It
