F1 1000th Race Synopsis

An F1 Milestone

The 2019 F1 Chinese GP was an event that promised lots of exciting racing. Lewis Hamilton won the race with Valteri Bottas of Mercedes completing a 1-2 finish for the Silver Arrows. Sebastain Vettel finished 3rd with Max Vestappen 4th for Red Bull.

The race was very mixed with Ferrari playing second fiddle as they had to allow Sebastian Vettel pass his teammate Charles Leclerc in order to chase the Mercedes after Leclerc was one a one stop strategy.

The Turn 1 Incident involved both Mclaren’s of Carlos Sianz and Lando Norris who were hit by Danni Kyvat’s Torro Rosso at T6 on Lap 1 after the Russian oversteeered into the Mclaren’s.

Vettel and Verstappen had a little fight during the race as Max nearly passed Seb at T14 but Seb had the inside line as the Ferrari pulled clear. Retirements were: Nico Hulkenberg for Renault after an ICE problem, Lando Norris and Carlos Sianz for Mclaren and Danni Kyvat for Torro Rosso who was handed a Drive Through Penaltey for the lap 1 carnage.

Lewis Hamilton leads the Drivers Championship on 68 Points with teammate Valteri Bottas 8 points adrift on 62 in Second.
