The heavy metal music genre associated with bands such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin

On the 13th April 2019 on my first Radio Club takeover show, Me: Lachlan Bancroft and my fellow presenter Charlie Tolhurst discussed the origins of the heavy metal music genre which inspired new and innovative genres such as: Death metal, thrash metal, speed metal and grunge. It is something that is not regularly mentioned in the commercial music community, however me and charlie have a strong passion and broad knowledge on this music genre which we would like to explain and educate others on.

We discussed how Lead guitarist of Black Sabbath (Tony Iommi) lost his finger tips in a tragic accident, which consequently lead to the beginning of an era. After the brief and detailed explanation, we then decided to play on air, one of Black Sabbath’s most popular songs (paranoid) from their 1970 studio album.

By this time we were on time for the schedule, therefore after the song, two other contributors to the heavy metal genre, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were mentioned in our chat in which, Deep Purple was voted the loudest band in 1972 and the other winning a Kennedy Centre Honour in the U.S inducted by famous actor Jack almost 35 years after the band kicked off their first studio album
