Any fellow parent will tell you that half-term week in Essex soon becomes the survival of the fittest – there are so many things out there that your nipper wants to do, with staff gleefully ready to take any money you may be lucky enough to have, whilst once you have convinced them that staying in is the only option for the day, you find yourself locked in a torture chamber ! One minute it’s the “blip bleep bloop” of computer games or the Wii, next minute it’s the cheesy jokes (all in annoying American accents) and ridiculous canned studio laughter at each and every one emitting from the TV screen. I recommend holding your enemies in a room with the Disney Channel on at full blast and they will be confessing their deepest secret before the first ad break !!!
I know I am weird looking forward to Monday each week, but at Thursday I am already wishing the weekend away to get back in the Gateway studios and play two hours of my latest 70s & 80s soul, jazz-funk and disco “re-dsicoveries” for you. But before then you can check out last Monday’s selection repeated at 5pm this Saturday – kick the kids out with the other half and enjoy !
