Neil Gits Back On The Net

I am glad to say all is well back home at “Old Gits HQ” regarding my internet connection (though you might recall I did have a few hiccups recently !) This time it was this Gateway 97.8 website that was out of action for a short while – and as you can see the reason was to give it a nice freshen up !

As I was unable to post a blog before last Saturday’s repeat, I have added the list of last week’s songs below for you to peruse at your pleasure and check out at your leisure, but now … on to today !

This Monday on the show you can hear some pretty darned fine tunes in amongst the features, with a cool cover version of an 80s soul classic from Street Sounds Vol 5 as my “Sound of the Streets” track for this week. It is one of three interesting alternative versions of favourite soul songs lined up for a play, either side of the “Old Gits Jazzy Bit” which on first listen isn’t terribly jazzy at all, but was recorded by a jazz legend and was a unique and innovative record in its time. There is also another song by this month’s featured artists (see above) as the official “Vinyl Reminder” on the show and overall there are NINE vinyl cuts on the playlist for tonight ! One further highlight is the “Tasty 12” where Joey Negro works his magic brilliantly on a Philadelphia anthem, but I hope you agree when listening in later that all 24 tunes selected are terrific !!

Tune in between 7pm & 9pm at www.gateway978.com for two hours of top quality soul, jazz-funk and disco from the 70s, 80s & beyond. I will of course be enjoying it myself in thestudio with the speakers up LOUD !! 🙂
