Almost every Monday from 7-9pm “The Old Gits Soul Show” is broadcast LIVE from Gateway 97.8 and almost every week it is worth listening to for the music alone – though sometimes there are bits in between and either side which make entertaining listening on the repeat play on Saturdays at 5pm !! For lovers of 70s & 80s soul, jazz-funk and disco, tune in tomorrow to hear classic tracks from Cameo, Shalamar, Windjammer & The Detroit Spinners, with some lesser known gems by great singers such as Phyllis Hyman, George Benson, Gene Chandler and Melba Moore. The “Short Trousered Soul” cut celebrates the recent “Fall of the White Stuff” , “The Old Gits Jazzy Bit” is a blinding jazz-funk instrumental , one of the “Soul Smothies” is taken from the excellent soundtrack of a 90s movie and there are another two stunning slices of soul taken from “The Philadpelhia Story”.
Much to enjoy then, but also listen out for the moment I dropped a CD case on the studio keyboard and hear what chaos ensued !! Now , back to the music …
