I normally avoid making any blatant references to other radio stations, either on air or online ones, as obviously I am trying to plug my own show on our own station here!
If you listen to my soul show each week and love the music I play, I am sure you will have been smart enough by now to discover one or two other DJs and shows on other outfits along the way, and there are many good ones out there to enjoy.
But of course, being an “Old Git” when it comes to enjoying good quality radio (whatever the music played) I always hanker back to the good old days of the mid 70s when I first got hooked and soon after was lucky enough to make my début on air in July 1978. That first show was a guest spot on Capital Radio at the age of 16 (it’s on Soundcloud if you can find it !!!) and I couldn’t help but notice that this week’s “Cool Soul” show is number 194 – Capital’s old MW frequency, brought the memories flooding back once more did that ! 🙂
Hopefully the tunes I’ve selected for this week’s programme (on Gateway, NOT Capital !) will do the same for you with features including a Motown “Short Trousered Soul Track”, a Chic instrumental for the “Old Gits Jazzy Bit”, another superb Motown Joint Remixed for the “Tasty 12” and a little Brazilian beach flavour in one of the “Soul Soothers”.
