Well, summer is definitely here, give or take the odd sudden rain shower, but then that is what a British Summer is all about ! And if there was any time to be at least slightly confident of choosing a good day to host your summer soul event, then between now and August has to be it, so it was no surprise that a glut of new events came piling into my inbox. Some are very close to us here in Basildon, others a little further away but by no means beyond easy reach, some feature familiar names at familiar venues, others a chance to try a change of scene and meet new fellow soul fans. All the details are crammed in at the bottomof this blog, so grab your diary and plan a soulful social life over the next few weeks !
Then there’s the music … and if I say so myself, I’ve pulled a few rabbits out of the hat this week with some lesser known tracks by some of the great names in soul, a few vinyl gems seeing the light of day for the first time in years and a handful of old favourites to bring memories of your disco days flooding back. Take a quick look at the playlist below, but don’t study it too hard or it may spoil the pleasure of hearing a few soulful surprises when you tune in at 5pm today for this week’s second airing !
