I was quite flattered that three different Facebook friends from different areas of my life all got in touch just before last Monday’s show to ask me to promote various events for them on the programme. It’s nice that listeners think it’s a worthwhile vehicle to push their projects on – though let’s not get carried away, I don’t want it ending up sounding like one of those awful bland commercial stations! But, to Penny, Kathy & Ian “thanks” for asking and I was happy to oblige in each case.
Penny’s partner Tom has an excellent tune out at the moment which has done really well on the download charts this week – I’ve bought it and you can hear it on next week’s show! Kathy & her hubby Dave are busy organizing the next “Bless The Funk” weekender, this time in lovely Hastings and you can read all about it on my “Old Gits Soul Show” Facebook page, with basic details in the “Recommended Old Gits Nights Out” listings below. Finally, one of my Billericay Town FC supporting buddies, Ian, is putting on a live band night tomorrow at the club, you can buy tickets on the door, and there will be a hint of 60s soul influences to be heard there.
