OK , so I am getting on a bit but it will be a looooong time before I find myself taking up residence in a centre for the elderly! However, in a new experience for me I stepped inside one for the very first time this week when my mum was transferred to one to recuperate after spending nine long weeks in Basildon Hospital. And I have to say what a lovely, modern, comfortable and welcoming place it is – it didn’t even smell that much of wee!!! Seriously though, both mum and I are very happy at the situation we are in now, but it crossed my mind that some of the few soul superstars I loved in my youth who are still with us may well also be in such a situation before long, if not already! Don’t the years just fly by? But we will never tire of hearing their classic music and there’s a good mix of those vintage 60s & 70s sounds alongside more modern 80s & 90s tracks on this week’s show which you can enjoy again this Saturday at 5pm…
