There are two chances to enjoy some “Cool Soul” over the holiday weekend. First of all there is a second chance to hear last Monday’s programme when it is repeated at 5pm on Saturday and includes, amongst the usual two hours of quality soul, jazz-funk & disco, the first tracks from this month’s featured compilation album “Motown Rare Grooves” as well as some “Short Trousered Soul” which was the first ever UK hit single by a group who went on to become one of my favourite Philly acts. Then on Monday it’s a special “Bands Of Soul” show for the Bank Holiday featuring some of the best jazz-funk & soul outfits of the 70s & 80s such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic, Maze & Change crammed into two hours from 7pm. And of course, there are plenty of events all across the weekend to get out and enjoy, so I’ve fully updated the Easter ones from my “Recommended Old Gits Nights Out” list below too – and next week look out for a full summer selection with many new gigs planned for between now and August ! It’s gonna be a soulful summer folks !!
