OK it’s not exactly relevant to my (twice) weekly show full of super soul disco & jazz-funk from the 70s & 80s, but if you are the same age as me (probably a bloke !) and love your footy, then I bet you had Subbuteo as a kid ! Young Nathan, my producer (and occasionally my 9 year old son…) saw them playing it in an episode of Gavin & Stacey recently and knew that dad still had his set lurking in a corner upstairs somewhere, so asked if we could have a game – talk about an invitation to treat ! Two weeks later we are in the middle of an intense “Subbuteo World Cup” competition and if you are on Facebook you can see some photos of the action – while you are there hunt down “The Old Gits Soul Show” page and join up for the latest news and banter from your fellow listeners, and maybe make some new soulful friends !
