Last week I took my Michael Jackson-obsessed son Nathan to see “Thriller Live!” at the Cliffs Pavillion, knowing he’d love it but fearing that it might not be quite as good as I’d heard, being a bit snotty when it comes to singers trying to imitate someone else… but it was really great! The work that went into the dance routines and costume changes must have been phenomenal, the band behind the scenes were impressive and the three/four singers that performed Michael’s songs (they used different ones for different parts of his life/repertoire) did a fantastic job and really took you back to the many highlights of his amazing career, despite mostly being around 20-25 years younger than he would have been now!
Inevitably, I had to include a suitable track on the show this week and me being me went for a 70s Jacksons single that was never a hit and didn’t feature in the show, but had me scurrying through the back catalogue for more J5/Wacko gems to play! “Enjoy Yourself” by listening to the repeat play of “The Old Gits Soul Show” this Saturday at 5pm and check the full playlist below:
