It was time to get out of the house and back on the road last weekend, so I decided to take in my first soul gig of the year and re-visit old chums on the Kent side at “Soul On The Harbour” in Ramsgate. You may be thinking that’s quite a way to drive just to see a bunch of DJs playing their old vinyl tracks, but I met people there from Bracknell & Cockfosters who’d made the trip – us soul fans all always prepared to travel to hear top tunes ! And top tunes they were, five glorious hours of non-stop nostalgia from the days of the 70s & 80s, so good in fact that I just couldn’t help myself and found myself “grooving” on the dancefloor with a few mates – first time that’s happened since 1998 I reckon !
If you listen in to the show any week, apart from a mere two hours of fab music, you can hear me promoting all manner of gigs that should appeal to you right across Essex and Kent, all within reasonable reach for Basildon or East Thurrock and all well worth the effort and the petrol.
