With primary school children starting to return to school from Monday (1st June), new research has found that 59 per cent of parents say their secondary school age children actually prefer online learning more than attending school.

According to the new study from Valenture Institute, respite from bullying seems to be a major factor in parents’ enthusiasm, with just under a quarter (24%) saying that their child had been bullied in school. Only a third (33%) of those parents with children aged 11 – 18 thought the school had dealt with the problem well, with the rest saying it had ignored it, handled it badly, or even made it worse.

Almost half (47%) of parents suggest that home learning is less stressful for their children. Parents like that their children can work at their own pace (49%), feel less pressure to get the answers right in front of other students (34%), and feel less pressure to look and dress a certain way (40 per cent).
