The latest figures show that 3,500 self-employed people in Basildon & Billericay have received support through the second tranche of grants available through the Coronavirus Self-Employed Income Support Scheme.

This amounts to £10,200,000 of support, in addition to the previous tranche of £14,400,000 earlier this year. These grants help to cover lost earnings, and do not need to be paid back.

John Baron, MP for Basildon and Billericay, said,

“The coronavirus pandemic has been a huge challenge for many self-employed workers, and these figures show the large amount of support the Government has made available to assist people in our constituency through these difficult times. This forms part of the more than £160 billion of support provided to individuals and businesses across the country by the Government since the beginning of the pandemic.”
