National Fitness Day
On Wednesday 26 September, the UK comes together to celebrate National Fitness Day, UK, and Energie Fitness Basildon is setting a global challenge.
énergie Fitness, the original founders of National Fitness Day in 2011, are challenging their clubs to collectively cycle ‘around the world’ in less than 24 hours – a total of 40,075 km (24,902 miles). Each gym, Energie Fitness Basildon, must complete 573 kilometres on an exercise bike with the help of staff and members.
On this day the club will also be open to everyone for free, which we hope will encourage local people that are less active to become inspired by fitness and lead a healthy lifestyle. Non-members can use the facilities throughout the day, meet the team and ask experts for advice without any commitment. They can also take part in the ‘Around the World Challenge’, which will be raising money for the local NHS, to celebrate the health service’s 70th anniversary.
“We want to take away all barriers people may feel towards fitness,” said Mandee Morgan (Club Manager). “Come in, talk to us and see that fitness is fun too. We’re excited to take part in the group challenge, which everyone and anyone can have a go it and raise money for charity too.”
National Fitness Day encourages the nation to celebrate the fun of fitness and physical activity across the UK, helping us raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier and active lifestyles.
