A FORMER leader of Basildon Council has died.
Tony Archer, who was still a Tory councillor in the Billericay East ward, is understood to have passed away on Saturday following a recent illness.
Current council leader Tony Ball, announced the sad news on Twitter.
He said: “I am sorry to announce the passing of former Basildon Council Leader Cllr Tony Archer.
“Our thoughts with Sue and his family.”
