Man hospitalised following Southend nightclub assault

Detectives are appealing for information following an assault inside a Southend nightclub which left a man hospitalised with a broken cheekbone and broken jaw.

The attack happened at Chameleon on Lucy Road between midnight and 1am on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27 when a 22-year-old man from the Rayleigh area was set upon by a group of men on the downstairs dance floor.

The victim lost consciousness, and had to be rushed to Basildon University Hospital where he was treated
and underwent further surgery to correct the two fractures.

The man only reported the incident to police on Sunday, June 2 and was then able to provide a statement to investigating officers on Monday, June 3.
