• Do you fancy seeing our award winning community station in action?
• Do you want to see how a live studio works?
• Do you want to meet and talk to the people that make it happen?

Gateway 97.8, the Community Radio Station for Basildon and East Thurrock, is opening its doors to the Public on Saturday 24th November between 10am and 2pm. If you have heard of Gateway, then you will know that this Award Winning Radio Station, recognised by the Prime Minister and HM The Queen, is run by a group of very enthusiastic volunteers, passionate about using the means of radio to serve its community.

The people who help at Gateway are a diverse mix from all sorts of backgrounds, and all sorts of ages, and having recently celebrated the stations second year of full time broadcasting, took the decision to have an open day, to show off and let everybody see what they are all about.

So if you are even the slightest bit curious, or have an interest in broadcasting, then make your way up to their Studio Suite in the Eastgate Centres Upper Galleries, on the 24th November, and go and have a nose. Members will be on hand to show the public around, and explain how a studio works. There will also be an opportunity to try your hand at a bit of presenting.

Find out about the work Gateway does as a Social Enterprise, boosting confidence and skills, and see how you could get involved.
