Reece Walker News

Reece Walker (pictured left with Danny Lawrence, his mother and David Fenn of the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside) is 3 years old and has spastic diplegic Cerebral Palsy. One of the symptoms that affect Reece is that it causes tightness in his legs, so he is unable stand or to walk independently.

After researching potential treatments to help Reece walk, they had heard about Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), an operation that so far around 100 children in the UK have had. It is only offered in America, and has a 100% success rate from the St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri. They have been carrying out this operation now for over 25 years.

The aim has been to raise £45,000 to send Reece to America to the St Louis Children’s Hospital and we are pleased to announce that this target has been raised.

Our thanks to all those that supported this great cause. The family are now preparing to travel to the States, where the operation is widely expected to be a success.
