Gareth Bale has completed a World Record move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth a staggering £85million. This deal breaks the previous record set by Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

On Sunday night, just hours after Tottenham lost the North London Derby to rivals Arsenal, the news broke that Spurs (whom have managed to keep Bale all summer) had sold the Welshman to the Spanish giants. Bale scored 21 Premier League goals for the North Londoners last season and caught the eye of Real whom purchased Former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric last summer also.

Gareth Bale won both the PFA and PFA Young player of the Year Awards last year for his valiant performances in a Tottenham shirt and managed to complete what he told Tottenham’s Official Website as a “dream move.” Bale won so many games for the Lilywhites last campaign including some particularly stunning long-range efforts against Southampton, West Ham and Sunderland – which proved to be his last for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

Spurs have already spent the majority of that record fee however. They have captured an impressive seven International players including most recently Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen (£11.5million), Vlad Chiriches of Steaua Bucharest (£9million) and broke their own transfer record for the third time this summer to secure Roma winger Erik Lamela (£30million) whom made an appearance in the North London Derby defeat on Sunday.

Bale’s first game for Madrid is likely to be against Villareal on the 14th September. The Welshman is likely to take the number 11 shirt in the Spanish capital as he famously wore for the English side.
