World record signing Gareth Bale scored on his Real Madrid debut in a night which could only see ‘Los Blancos’ drawing 2-2 against newly promoted Villarreal.

The world was watching as the Welshman setup camp on the right wing wearing his trademark number 11 shirt and expectations were high as everyone waited to see what the young-man could do. He lined up alongside former Tottenham team-mate Luka Modric in midfield, a partnership that excited fans during their spell at White Hart Lane together.

The game showed clear gaps in Carlo Ancelotti’s side as Villarreal, nicknamed ‘Yellow Submarines’ because of their kit colour, continued to press into the Madrid area and without Diego Lopez protecting the goal, Madrid could have found themselves 3 or 4 goals behind.

The opening goal came as expected from the Home side. Villarreal scored through Cani and a lack lustre Real defence had been exposed. But, this was time for the £86million man to show what he could do.

Bale found himself on the end of a cross on the 38th minute of time in which he tapped home to level the score. This sparked wild celebrations from the Former Tottenham man including his newly trademarked heart celebration in which we all expected to see.

The game was far from over and Cristiano Ronaldo found his bizarre deflected effort in the net on the 60 minute mark only for former team-mate of Gareth Bale’s, Giovanni Dos Santos to level the score on 70 minutes to spark frustration from the Madrid camp.

Bale only played 60 minutes after a long summer of injuries and only recently returning from Welsh International duty however the man could count himself proud with a decent debut goal and performance for his new club.

Bale and Madrid encounter their first Champions League game of the season against Galatasaray on Tuesday night.
