Basildon’s Mayor Mo Larkin Cuts a Dash at St Luke’s

10th June 2014
Posted by Gateway 97.8

The annual Summer fête day at St Luke’s began with a bang — a downpour, lightning flashes and resounding thunder: not enough to deter Basildon’s First Lady, the Mayor, Mo Larkin.

But after such a spectacular fanfare, the clouds cleared, the sun shone and the crowds came to enjoy one of the annual Summer highlights, a celebration of a very special, caring place that’s dear to the hearts of all within the wide range of its caring services.
Gateway 97.8 was there with its roadshow and Outside Broadcast studio and we were privileged to secure some fine interviews (listen to St Luke’s founder, Trudi Westmore-Cox and to Basildon’s Mayor, Mo Larkin on Good Afternoon) as well as hear some of the great sounds of the day from the Sutherland Pipes and Drums as well as the High Voltage Big Band from Billericay — brass in style.
But the atmosphere of the event is characterised by all those who baked and knitted and cooked and displayed the work of their various organisations.
St Luke’s relies upon our subscriptions and Basildon has always been generous. If you couldn’t get there on the day, please remember St Luke’s next time you see one of their collection boxes.
