One of the regular features on my show is the “Tasty 12”, usually the full length album version or maybe a specially extended twelve inch version of a big popular soul / dance hit. In September I have been highlighting again some of the wonderfully creative remixes made from the original master tapes of such songs by the mysterious “Groovefunkel”. Some of the artists who have received a magical makeover include Sister Sledge, Earth Wind & Fire, Barry White & The Jacksons and the mixes are so clever that it can sometimes be nearly a minute before you recognize the song !
This week I had two songs left in the latest batch available, but thought it best I play one of them last Monday rather than wait another seven days in case the weather turned (you can guess which one from the playlist below !) and it looks like I made a good call as the rain finally returned today after a long, long summer holiday ! Plenty more showers are forecast on and off for the next couple of weeks, which will no doubt be welcomed by domestic gardeners and sports field groundsmen alike, but I think we can say goodbye to any songs with the words “summer” or “sunshine” in the title appearing on my show for a while now …
Whatever the weather, you will find plenty of terrific ‘Cool Soul’ on your radio, live from 7-9pm on a Monday evening or on the ‘Repeat Play’ which is aired on Saturday afternoon at 5pm … and of course you can ‘Listen Again’ to any bits you’ve missed via this website. Stand by for more !!
