Consumers more wary about trusting others online
True life documentaries like Netflix’s ‘The Tinder Swindler’, and the drama ‘Inventing Anna’ have made Brits change their outlook on fraud and it seems we believe we’re now MORE cautious.
The research published today by global identity verification provider, Onfido, revealed as many as two out of three (67%) consumers believe TV shows have changed their outlook on fraud.
Worryingly the study found that across the UK almost a third (29%) of consumers are now sceptical of businesses operating online. Yet, nearly two-thirds of people (65%) agree that they would use online sites more if there were secure identity verification solutions to help prevent fraud and social abuse.
Ros spoke to Simon Horswell, fraud specialist at Onfido.
