Has the obesity crisis plateaued?
Latest figures show obesity levels have plateaued in the UK for the first time in 2024, yet with more than six in ten (64%) adults in England estimated to be overweight or obese, there’s still a long way to go1.
With Obesity Awareness Week taking place this week (10th-16th January), doctors are explaining why 2025 represents a critical inflection point for treating obesity in the UK and why we should consider how we could not just reverse the upward trend but end obesity as we know it within ten years.
New figures from Numan show the UK public’s differing views on obesity, with nearly 60% of people believing that obesity is a choice, and only 9% strongly recognising it as a disease.
Aston spoke to GP & weight loss speciallist Dr Bryony Henderson & Ava Grace.
