Esther Marshall highlights Children’s Mental Health Week
This Children’s Mental Health Week (3rd-9th February) new research from parents has highlighted the vital role books play at allowing parents to discuss mental health with their children – but also the need for improved mental health support for young children and their families.
Whether it’s a favourite bedtime story, or a character that your child trusts and confides in, over half (52%) of parents turn to books to help start discussions with their child about how they are feeling.
One in two parents believe that their child trusts talking about their feelings more when they incorporate characters from their favourite book – highlighting the connections many young children feel with books and the characters they grow to cherish and love.
