At the risk of being totally boring and talking about the weather in a typically British kind of way, it’s been nice this week hasn’t it ? Lots of sunshine, no rain and just about warm enough to keep the heating off most of the time. I’ve been busy popping around Essex again and it’s been perfect for a drive out & about with some top tunes in the car. The camera has been charged up and I am hoping for more of the same this week with a little more free time on my hands to get snapping somewhere !
Spring is almost officially here, but for me it started a couple of weeks ago when I was putting a big food shop away which included a couple of fresh packets of pasta. I keep them in a corner of my food cupboard where I’d also previously stored some sunflower oil (before it became almost impossible to find any more !) and the bottle must have had a leak because it was all gungy in that area, so before you know it I’d taken everything out of the cupboard and given it a complete wipe down with cream cleaner. That’s not something you’ll catch me doing on a cold miserable morning in winter or on a boiling hot summer’s afternoon … so it MUST be Spring !
It’s also a proven fact that the fabulous soul, jazz-funk & disco tunes from the 60s 70s 80s & 90s I play on my show sound even more terrific at this time of the year ! I think it relates to the classic original Soul Weekender era of the early 80s when the first Caister of the year, and other similar events, took place around Easter / Whitsun time and all us soul fans were soaking up the best new releases either on the dancefloors or on the radio shows , spun by the legendary top DJs of the time …
Though I am old enough, I definitely don’t class myself in that bracket, I was just an enthusiast (and still am of course!) who has found himself in a position to share the music I love with fellow like-minded folk every Monday LIVE on air from 7-9pm. Here is the latest selection which is particularly good I reckon – take a look below and head for “Listen Again” if you didn’t get to catch it this week …
