PTSD Awareness Day
On PTSD Awareness Day (27th June), a charity focused on veterans’ mental health, is urging the public to understand better the hidden battles faced by former service personnel long after they leave the military.
PTSD Awareness Day is dedicated to increasing understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its impact and data from the charity Combat Stress reveals a concerning lack of public awareness around PTSD among veterans.
In fact, data shows that a resounding 70% of veterans who complete treatment with Combat Stress no longer meet the clinical criteria for PTSD. This recovery rate highlights the importance of the charity’s services to those who have served their country.
Aston spoke to Dr Naomi Wilson, clinical director at Combat Stress.
