Listen: the silent diabetes crisis sweeping the UK

Currently one in five of us live with diabetes or prediabetes in the UK, including nearly 1.3 million potentially living with the condition undiagnosed.

New research from Diabetes UK has revealed an alarming knowledge gap in the condition as 66% of UK adults have never even considered the risk of type 2 diabetes and over a third (36%) are not confident in knowing the differences between type 1 and type 2.

The main symptoms of diabetes that people were able to correctly identify are feeling really thirsty (54%), feeling more tired than usual (53%), needing to urinate frequently, especially at night (50%), blurred eyesight (40%) and cuts and wounds taking longer to heal (36%).

Ros spoke to Dr Rupy Aujla from Doctor’s Kitchen.
