Brits now live in multi-generational households
Sharing living expenses, offering childcare or looking after older relatives – multi-generational living has always seemed like a good idea, but research out today shows it is now a reality for almost half (49%) of Brits.
And the findings shed light on the changing dynamics in British homes revealing the majority of families (51%) have maintained the arrangement for more than a decade in a growing trend.
The research by Uplifts* found whilst living together may have come out of necessity, financial, emotional and practical considerations – 70% of those living in multi-generational homes report being happy with the setup and more than half 54% are likely to continue this arrangement long-ter.
Aston spoke to occupational therapist Kate Sheehan and consumer researcher Prabash Edirisingha.
